Become an AmpSurf Certified Adaptive Surf Instructor  through the Ampsurf™ Certification Program.
Adaptive Surf Instructor certification is good for 5 years

****Instructors must participate in at least one AmpSurf event, each year and a current Adult/Child CPR with First Aid certification is required to be on file with AmpSurf to maintain certification****

Requirements for becoming an AmpSurf Instructor:
1.  Participate in at least two Ampsurf events as a water helper before or after class.
2. Complete Adult/child CPR with First Aid certification programs offered through the Red Cross or equivalent.  Copies of certificates must be submitted before ASICP certificate can be issued. If you have current copies please bring to class.
3. Complete ASICP instructor training classes. You must be there for the entire class!
4. Again, volunteer as a water helper at two Ampsurf Learn to Surf Clinics (yes, this is important).
5. Demonstrate significant experience and knowledge of surfing and working with people with disabilities.
6. Demonstrate the ability to work as a team player, take direction/feedback, nurture a supportive, enriching environment, and be able to get along with a variety of people & personalities.
7. Surfing/Ocean experience is recommended.
8. Renewal/refresher course is required every 5 years.

One Day classes:

Certified Adaptive Surf Instructor course 
A study material packet will be sent to you 7-10 days before the day of the class. You will also need to purchase and do the workbook, “3 Keys to managing PTSD” before the day of the class.

The class is a six (6) hour class consisting of ½ class room and ½ in water instruction and goes from 8am-3pm. The classroom portion will cover various disabilities and how to create a positive and safe experience. The “in -water” instruction will be a practical application and qualification evaluation by our Lead Instructors.
Please bring the following to class: Wetsuit, sack lunch, your current Adult/Child CPR  with First Aid certification card if you already have it.

 

A class schedule will also be sent out at that time. Class starts promptly at 8am. Please be sure to study, there is a test at the end of the training! You must pass, to get certified!
