
The 2021 Pismo Beach ISA World Para-Surfing Championships Hosted by AmpSurf™ will be held Dec. 4th-12th, 2021. Contest dates are Dec. 7th-11th and the clinic day will be two days before the contest starts on Sunday Dec. 5th.
This event will bring the top Para Surfers from around the world to Pismo beach to compete for world champion. These athletes will be representing their home nations to claim the gold for not only themselves, but their nation as well.
Each day will highlight the skill, power and performance of competitors surfing in the 8 Para Divisions as recognized by the International Surfing Association, (ISA) the governing body for Olympic Surfing as recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IPC)
AmpSurf™ is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to Promote, Inspire, Educate, and Rehabilitate (PIER) all people with disabilities and their families through adaptive surfing and other outdoor activities.
Dec. 4th – Event Set up starts and 300+ Athletes, Coaches and Trainers from 32+ countries will be coming into the Pismo Beach area. We need volunteers for help with set up, getting countries and their teams checked in…. We’ll need volunteer security, set-up, booth support and more.
Dec. 5th – We will be doing a Learn to Surf Clinic for local people living with disabilities and veterans. We’ll need Instructors, Water assist, beach support booth help and more.
Dec. 6th – Opening Ceremonies. We’ll have a parade of nations and all 300+ athletes, coaches and trainers at 1pm from the Addies St. Parking lot to the Pier Plaza and each nation will present their national flag and the contest will be officially kicked off. We’ll need volunteer security, Booth support, and more.
Dec. 7th-11th Contest Days!!! All the athletes, coaches and trainers will be in the house and the athletes will start battling wave by wave to see who will win gold in each division and which country will bring home over all Gold, Silver and Bronze. We will need volunteer security, water safety, booth help, judging spotters and tabulators, Wheelchair transfer helpers, runners and more.
Dec. 12th – Contest tear down. We can help make sure everything get packed up and hauled out and the beautiful Pismo Beach and pier area used all week gets returned back to its pristine beauty with a a good police call of the area. we’ll need Tear down staff, security, and more.
We are also doing a Surf/Sports Therapy Village for other organizations to get involved and to highlight what they do too!

CLINIC PARTICIPANTS
Thank you for expressing interest in participating in the healing power of the ocean and adaptive surfing. Participating in these events can be a very rewarding experience. AmpSurf™ is a non-profit organization established to Promote, Inspire, Educate and Rehabilitate (PIER™) adaptive surfing and other outdoor activities outdoor activities.

Before signing up for one of our clinics, please take a moment and read the information below;
Clinic schedule:
7:00 a.m. – Setup crew arrives
7:30 a.m. – All other volunteers arrive
7:45 a.m. – Volunteers briefing (all water staff must be present)
8:00 a.m. – Participants arrive – Meet, greet and suit up
8:30-9:00 a.m. – Dry land instruction
9:00-11:00 a.m. – In-water surf instruction
11:00-12:00 p.m. – Tear down
Participants are encouraged to contact AmpSurf in advance to make sure all efforts can be made to accommodate your disability. Please email surf@ampsurf.org
Participants should bring the following items:
Swim suit, Towel, Sun screen, Picture ID, Snacks and Water

What to expect at each clinic:
At Check in each person’s temperature will be checked and standard Covid-19 questions will be asked. Once Covid-19 screening is complete, masks can be removed. AmpSurf will provide snacks, coffee, water, a surfboard, wetsuit, and rash-guard for each participant to use. A beach wheelchair is available if needed. All attendees are highly encouraged to bring their own Sunscreen, Water, Snacks and anything else they think they will need for the days adventure.

Below is information on the day of schedule at clinics and a form to complete, so that we can get you plugged into our system and get you out volunteering as part of AmpSurf.

Volunteering can be a very rewarding experience. These clinics are not possible without your help. These clinics are also not possible if not adequately staffed. It is very important that all who sign up to volunteer make it to the event. Please let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend by emailing surf@ampsurf.org As we get closer to the date of the clinic you signed up for, we will send out updates. AmpSurf’s goal for our clinics is to Promote, Inspire, Educate, and Rehabilitate (PIER™) all people with disabilities and their families through adaptive surfing and other outdoor activities. Please be sure to arrive on time and expect to have one of the greatest experiences of your life.

If you volunteer to help out at an event, make sure you can commit for the whole time period you have signed up for. The competitors and participants and your fellow volunteers are counting on you! 7:00 – Volunteers Arrive/Set up
7:30 – Volunteer sign AmpSurf, VA and partner waivers and a media release if not already done.
8:00 – Participants arrive and are fitted for wetsuits if desired.
8:30 – Welcome brief Participants/Volunteers, Dryland training and safety briefing, group photo
9:00 – 11:00 In-Water surf instruction.
11:00 – Final comments, participants depart / Volunteers tear down and pack up
