Salt Creek 2004
It was a nasty day down in Southern California and the swell was huge!!! It had been raining for about two days from a storm that had come in from the northwest. The storm had produced a swell that was pounding the coast with 2-15 foot waves. It was great for the competitors who were competing on short boards, but it was danger city for the long boarders in the competition. Most all of the long board heats were forced to stay on the inside and ride the white wash. Some would think that this would be a cakewalk, but on a day like this it was like Stewart Little trying to climb out of the spin cycle of a washing machine. Rodney Roller and I ended up being the only ones making out that day for the prosthetics division and we tried our best. We had a hard time fighting the waves and my leg was almost completely ripped off a few times. Rodney caught a couple of short rides and secured himself a first place finish. I was only able to get one ride, but since we were the only ones in the water I still got the second place trophy.
